๐ Appearance
Gorilla Glue #4 had excellent bag appeal from the start. The buds were dense and well formed with a light green base, bright orange pistils, and a thick layer of frost covering nearly every visible surface. The cure was also excellent, with a clean snap when breaking the flower apart while still retaining enough moisture and resin to avoid feeling dry or brittle. Under the microscope, the amount of trichome coverage became even more obvious, with intact glandular heads packed heavily across the flower. The combination of structure, cure, and resin coverage gave this batch the classic sticky, heavily frosted presentation I would expect from GG4.
๐ Aroma
The aroma was immediately pungent and carried plenty of presence as soon as the flower was opened. Earthy and sour notes form the base of the profile, with sharper pine and diesel character adding the familiar fuel-heavy edge associated with Gorilla Glue #4. The aroma became even more pronounced once the buds were broken apart, with the deeper earthy gas pushing forward and lingering around the room. This was not a quiet jar; the profile had enough intensity to make itself known quickly.
๐
Flavor
The flavor profile stays centered on dank, earthy gas with darker notes of chocolate and coffee underneath. The diesel character gives the smoke a strong backbone while the roasted chocolate-coffee side adds depth and keeps the profile from feeling like straight fuel. It is a heavier, more old-school flavor combination than many of the sweeter fruit and candy cultivars currently dominating menus, and that contrast is part of what makes GG4 remain so recognizable.
๐ง Effects
Gorilla Glue #4 tested at 21.4% THC, 0.06% CBD, and 1.43% total terpenes. The effects were fantastic when I was looking for a noticeable mood lift followed by a much heavier finish. The early part of the experience felt mentally uplifting and euphoric before gradually shifting toward deeper physical relaxation. As the session developed, that heavier body effect became increasingly noticeable and eventually moved into the couch-lock territory GG4 is known for. The progression gave the strain a useful arc: an enjoyable mental lift up front followed by a much more settled, relaxing finish.
โ
Overall
Gorilla Glue #4 at Cookies is more than another modern recreation of a famous strain. One of the most interesting parts of this release is the history behind the cut itself. Shauncron obtained the original GG4 cut directly from its creator, Joesy Whales, in 2011 before the cultivar had even received the Gorilla Glue #4 name. At the time, it was passed along simply as Chem Sis ร Chocolate Diesel ร Sour Dubble, and Shauncron has maintained that original Joesy Whales cut ever since. That preserved genetics connection gives this release a level of provenance that is increasingly rare with legacy cultivars. The flower itself backed up that history with excellent bag appeal, a proper cure and snap, heavy trichome coverage, a pungent earthy-diesel profile, and effects that moved from a strong mood lift into substantial couch-lock relaxation. For patients who miss classic fuel-forward flower and want to experience GG4 through a preserved original cut rather than a modern reinterpretation, this Cookies Florida release is especially interesting.
