Watch Gaschata from Octane at Goldflower up close, highlighting its dense structure and exceptional resin coverage.
๐ Appearance
Gaschata from Octane is one of the more resinous cultivars we have documented this year. The buds carry tightly formed calyxes with green and purple coloration, burnt-orange pistils, and a frost that is immediately obvious before the microscope ever enters the conversation. At trichome level, the density becomes almost difficult to parse. Gland heads crowd the calyxes and smaller leaf edges so tightly that individual structures can be challenging to distinguish. Rather than appearing frosted only along exposed ridges, resin extends deep through the folds of the bud and remains abundant across all of the plant material. Plenty of cultivars photograph well from one angle; this one keeps revealing resin wherever the lens lands.
๐ Aroma
Gaschata opens with sweet gas and ripe fruit carrying a distinct sour edge, followed by a softer richness that rounds out the sharper notes without muting them. Grape Gas is already one the most popular cultivars because of how much flavor and aroma it can pack into the experience, and that familiar intensity is easy to recognize here. What makes this cross more interesting is the way Horchata changes the shape of it. There is warmth beneath the fruit and fuel, a light creaminess, and a darker cocoa accent waiting farther back. The aroma has plenty of volume, but it also has separation. Sweetness, sour fruit, gas, and those warmer notes remain identifiable instead of collapsing into one loud impression. Breaking into the flower only reinforces how fresh and resinous this batch feels.

Flavor
Gaschata produces one of the most complete mouth coats I have encountered in recent reviews. With some cultivars, flavor settles into isolated areas along the tongue or palate. Here, the sensation spreads across nearly the entire tongue and carries through the palate with unusual consistency. The Grape Gas side brings the saturated fruit and fuel I was hoping for, but the Horchata pairing reins that intensity into something more composed. The exhale is distinctly sweet, carrying the fruit and gas cleanly before the cocoa finally makes its appearance. That cocoa is the detail that completes the experience for me. It arrives at the finish rather than trying to dominate the smoke, leaving behind a warm, slightly darker note after the brighter flavors have cleared. For something capable of coating the mouth this thoroughly, the reset is remarkably clean. The flavor lingers, but the palate never feels overloaded. It leaves enough freshness behind that another dose feels inviting when needed.
๐ง Effects
Gaschata came on lightly with a clear sense of focus before the body high began to build. A few minutes in, the shoulders dropped and the physical relaxation became much more noticeable. The release settled through the upper body without taking away the mental clarity I had at the start. I stayed present and focused while the body loosened up, giving Gaschata a genuinely balanced effect that worked especially well for winding down without feeling weighed down.
โ
Overall
Gaschata is exactly the kind of release that makes Octane worth paying attention to. Randy Lanier brings genuine history to this brand. His life has intersected cannabis from very different sides โ through prohibition, the consequences that followed, and the advocacy work he has taken on since his release. That gives Octane a level of authenticity that cannot simply be created with packaging or marketing. More importantly, the flower is capable of carrying that name. Gaschata gives the brand substance on the product side with exceptional resin production, a fresh and expressive aroma, one of the most complete mouth-coating flavor experiences we have documented this year, and balanced effects that move from focus into physical relief. As someone who already considers Grape Gas one of my favorite cultivars, I think pairing it with Horchata was an excellent choice. The cross preserves the saturated fruit and gas I enjoy, a sweet exhale, and that beautiful cocoa finish that gives Gaschata its own identity. The COA documents 24.6% THC, 0.0588% CBD, and 2.06% total terpenes. Randy Lanier and Octane have another release here that feels worthy of the story behind the brand, and Goldflower deserves credit for continuing to give distinctive cultivars and authentic cannabis voices a place on its shelves.
