👀 Appearance
Paw Paw showed compact, well-developed flower with bright green coloration, vivid orange pistils, and a dense frost extending across the calyxes. The individual calyxes remained clearly defined throughout the bud, giving the flower a dimensional structure that photographed especially well. At gland level, trichome heads cover the surface in high numbers, continuing along the smaller leaf edges and into the recessed folds of the flower. The resin field stays consistent across the areas examined, with plenty of intact heads visible throughout. Strong structure, vivid coloration, and substantial trichome production gave Paw Paw a visually memorable presentation.
👃 Aroma
Sweet tropical fruit immediately became the center of Paw Paw’s aroma for me. Papaya was the clearest association, joined by bright citrus zest and a fresh pine character underneath. A light spice note appeared farther back and gave the nose another point of interest as the flower opened up. The fruit carried the greatest intensity, with citrus adding brightness and pine bringing a fresh green quality to the overall aroma. That combination gave Paw Paw a lively tropical character that remained easy to recognize each time I returned to it.
👅 Flavor
The tropical character translated cleanly onto the palate. Sweet fruit led with papaya and citrus providing the clearest flavors, followed by a fresh pine note that became more noticeable through the exhale. A restrained spice character remained in the background and carried lightly into the finish. Citrus brought a bright quality across the tongue, and the tropical sweetness held its presence well between doses. The flavor felt smooth, fresh, and distinctly fruit-forward, with pine and spice adding recognizable secondary notes around the sweeter center.
🧠 Effects
Paw Paw gave me an uplifting, focused, and creatively engaging experience. The mental lift arrived early, bringing a positive shift in mood along with enough energy to stay involved in what I was doing. Focus and creativity were especially noticeable during daytime use, and the physical side gradually settled into a calm sense of ease. I found the combination well suited to conversation, creative work, and afternoon use. The experience felt bright and centered, matching the tropical character of the flower particularly well.
✅ Overall
Revisiting Paw Paw now gives this earlier Curaleaf release much more context. Paw Paw was selected through the Grassroots × Dark Heart Ocifer pheno hunt and carries Cap Junky × Rosetta Stone genetics from Brothers Grimm. When I first experienced Paw Paw, its sweet papaya, citrus, pine, and uplifting daytime effects were what made the cultivar memorable. After later reviewing the original Ocifer from Curaleaf, the relationship between the two became much easier to appreciate. Ocifer expressed bright citrus, pine, and focused daytime energy, while Paw Paw took those genetics in a noticeably more tropical direction led by papaya and sweet fruit. The COA documents 31.3% THC and 2.4% total terpenes. That connection gives Paw Paw lasting value in the Registry because it preserves one of the distinct selections that emerged from Curaleaf’s Ocifer hunt and gives us a reference point for following how these genetics continue to develop through future releases from Curaleaf.
